    Policy for Home Going Services

    1. BEFORE MAKING ARRANGEMENTS

In the event of a death, where services for the deceased will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (PRBC), members (or, if applicable, a family member of the deceased) are encouraged to contact Pastor Davis or the church office immediately, and prior to making arrangements.

    1. SERVICES FOR MEMBERS

Funeral services will be provided for any PRBC member who is in good standing. A member in good standing is defined as an individual whose a) membership is held with PRBC, and b) has attended church services regularly, and c) has made systematic financial contributions within the last year.

III. SERVICES FOR AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER OF A PRBC MEMBER

When a PRBC member is in good standing, the church will provide funeral services for an immediate family member who does not have a home church of their own. Immediate family members are limited to: spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, or grandchild.

    1. SERVICE INCLUSION

Services for PRBC members and their immediate family members will include:

    • Consultation with and guidance from the Pastor

    • The assistance of the church staff

    • Use of the church sanctuary

    • Program participants, including minister, deacons, deaconesses, missionaries, choir, musicians, nurses, ushers, audio/visual staff, parking and security staff

    • Use of the church fellowship hall

    • Preparation of a repast by the church culinary staff

    • Serve dinner at the repast

    • Services of the custodial staff

    1. SERVICES FOR OTHERS

Members are encouraged to utilize the facilities of a local mortuary when the deceased is not a member of a church and is a relative other than as defined in Sections II and III above. Where possible, the pastor and/or church staff will share information to guide you with making arrangements.

    1. LOANS FOR FUNERAL EXPENSES

Pilgrim Rest does not pay for funeral services. Pilgrim Rest does not make loans to families for funeral expenses. Individuals are strongly encouraged to proactively plan for funeral and other final expenses by purchasing life insurance, creating a designated savings account, or other financial preparations. Individuals may also wish to consider preparing a will, establishing a trust, or making other estate plans that will provide peace of mind for both you and your surviving family members.
